Arizona State University
IndigeLab Network
Posting number: req18913
BACKGROUND
The Udall Center at the University of Arizona is in search of an IndigeLab Data Support Staff (Research Data Support Specialist II) member. The Data Support Staff member works with the IndigeLab Network (IN): Building research collectives through gendered Indigenous theories of change. The IndigeLab Network connects Indigenous women and gender minority researchers who lead unique research collectives that make room for Indigenous ways of knowing, doing, and being in the academy. IndigeLab Network collaboratively investigate methods of making, maintaining, and repairing research cultures in Indigenous, gender minority led research collectives across social and natural sciences and the arts. The goal is to shed light on knowledges and methods of bringing Indigenous methodologies and theories of change into the social worlds of labs, studios, portfolios, centers, and other research collectives. The anticipated impacts of IndigeLab Network activities include: insights into the ways gendered Indigenous methodologies can impact internal research cultures and collectives; collaborative training of over 200 Indigenous and allied students via lab exchanges (over 7 years); influence of international professionalization organizations through research-based recommendations; and an international network of Indigenous women and gender minority researchers, students, and research collectives. The Civic Laboratory for Environmental Action Research (CLEAR) at Memorial University and the Collaboratory for Indigenous Data Governance at the University of Arizona lead the IndigeLab Network.
The Data Support Staff member will be responsible for creating and maintaining shared data repositories, ensuring data contracts are signed and up to date for every member in the network, every year; carrying out some of the consent processes for Indigenous Data Sovereignty (IDSov) including quality assurance, changing access to data; ensuring all project personnel and collaborators are training in IDSov protocols; and working with our partners on innovation in data practices (making contract templates to share, giving talks and trainings, and possibly doing horizon scans of best practices).
Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance plans; life insurance and disability programs; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; retirement plans; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; and more!
