Academia can claim significant amounts of your time, energy, and mental health. What are some concrete ways to set healthy boundaries? While these techniques will support a broad range of academics, many of the scenarios are based on the unique requests made to Indigenous academics.
A resource and workbook for setting boundaries and saying No.
This workbook contains specific tools to structurally establish healthy boundaries such as automatic email responses, template email responses, scheduling practices, and web forms to consolidate communication. It also contains tools to help academics set their goals so we know where to say no, and when to say yes.
This workbook is based on sessions held by CLEAR lab and the Indigenous Land & Data Stewards Lab at the Building Labs Workshop held in August 2024. The workshops were coordinated by the IndigeLab Network and the Nexus Centre at Memorial University, funded by the SSHRC. Videos of both sessions are below.
